a summary of march ‘2022🍃

it took me while to think of a name for this post other than just “march wrap up”😆

hello and welcome back to a curly sue’s ramblings! and just like that, 1/4th of 2022 is over. it really feels like only a few days ago i was writing draft for last month’s wrap up.

why does it seem like all my monthly recaps begin with me rambling about how time flies so fast? 😵 here’s a summary of how this month was, for me.🍀✨

♡life

like last month, the main focus of march was EXAMS. these are the most important ones of the academic year, and i actually did really well. on most subjects. but, i did make a post and half of it was me ranting about exams. so i won’t be doing that again here. 😂

i got my braces tightened. i seriously cANNOT wait till my braces are off– it’s already been more than a year, and my mum (and orthodontist) said i could get them off in a year. i’ve been tricked :(( also – it was my best friend’s (sana) birthday!! she turned 13 (or 14, whatever.) on the 25th of march.

it was an average month, really. i went over to my friend joy’s house, it was a lot of fun. and i read a decent amount of books this month. i’m moving to the 9th grade in april. i’m nervous, and excited ¿? i just hope my friends and i are in the same class for this year too. um, yeah – and today (24th march) was my last day in 8th grade. 😪

update: my friends and i are in the same class.🤠 (so is someone else who i wished was in a different section, ugh.)

i’ve been listening to taylor swift, replaying harry styles’ new album trailer (i cAnnot wait!) binge-watching the one of us is lying tv show – which is SO different from the book, but i loved it anyway! i mean, if they followed the exact plot line of the book it would’ve been boring. we also kind of get a new story! but, the casting was..not accurate at all. 💫 waiting for season 2~

♡books i read

  1. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera – this book is totally worth the hype. the plot was really cool, and mateo & rufus’ chemistry is undeniable. the ending was really sad though. loved this book x💘
  2. You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao – i didn’t like julie’s character, which isn’t a good start since she’s the main character. but, it was still a nice book and it made me cry at the end. (sam deserves better though, honestly.)
  3. Not my Problem by Ciara Smyth – i LOVE this book. one of my favorites of all time. aideen + meabh, the humor, kavi’s existence, and the writing – it’s certainly a must-read. 🛐
  4. Not here to be liked by Michelle Quach – a decent academic rivals to lovers novel, i guess? it has feminism in it. it’s a lot like moxie. and the cover’s really pretty. 🙇
  5. The book thief by Markus Zusak – ….i cannot put into words how incredible this is.
  6. This is not the Jess Show by Anna Carey – the plot twist kind of made up for how boring some parts of this book was, according to me. it’s a story set in the 90’s.
  7. Then she was gone by Lisa Jewell – the vocabulary of this author, wow. her writing kept me captivated till the end, but still, some parts of this book was predictable.
  8. I’m thinking of ending things by Iian Reid – i lost so many braincells reading this, but once you actually understand what this story is about, it’s like..well..☝️after reading the explanations on goodreads, i was mind bloWN-

🥀 books i did not finish 🥀

  1. Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus – DNF at 42%. to whichever extent i read, i did not like this book, it felt like i just wanted to finish it, so it wasn’t enjoyable. i wasn’t even that intrigued by the story.
  2. Hani and Ishu’s Guide By Adiba Jaigirdar – the writing was trash– and let me just say it, the cutest thing about this book is the cover.👁️👄👁️☝️

♡songs on repeat

you know when you put your playlist on shuffle, and you can never find the right song to listen to? i always skip through so many songs just to find the *right* one. so, i made a playlist with songs that are “unskippable” so whenever i can never find something i feel like listening to, i could just play this one. 😜

🥀 my favourite songs from march 🥀

  • cowboy like me – taylor swift: i actually wasn’t too fond of this song but it’s really grown on me (get the ivy reference?) ivy is another song by taylor swift i LOVE.
  • bellyache – billie eilish: why didn’t i listen to this earlier? it’s such a calming song to listen to. i was actually trying to learn it on the guitar last month, that is, before i broke a string. 🔪🔪
  • a.m – one direction: wow, it really has been a while since i’ve listened to 1D. it felt so weirdly nostalgic listening to their songs again. and this one, is one of the most iconic tracks ever. to me, at least.
  • call it what you want – taylor swift: my fav from reputation. there’s something about listening to it that makes you want to loop it forever~
  • wish you were gay by billie eilish: one of all time favorites by billie eilish. 😩💫
  • summertime sadness by lana del ray: goshh, this is such a beautiful song! it’s also the first song i’ve heard by lana del ray.

♡reviewing goals + goals for april

  • Read 10 books, or more – i mean, no only 8 but if you count the books i DNF then yes.
  • Read the “Six of Crows” duology – nOpe. i started reading the first book, put it down, haven’t picked it back up. yet. maybe next month.
  • Do a book review on my blog – yess – click here to read a review of “good girl, bad blood” & “as good as dead”
  • Spend less time on screens – haha, no😂
  • Post 3 videos on Oreo’s YouTube – um, that channel hasn’t been active in weeks. BUT i did post 3 videos!!
  • fix my guitar and practice – oh wait i have a guitar? haven’t touched it in weeks.
  • score over 90% in exams in march – i got over 90% in EVERY EXAM except for maths😭😭

🥀 goals for april🥀

  • do well on the first few weeks of 9th grade
  • don’t be afraid to ask questions in class, and make new friends
  • take part in sports events (if any happen)
  • score over 90% in maths and 100% in other subjects
  • upload videos on Oreo’s channel
  • read the six of crows duology😂

well, we’ll see how i do on keeping up with my goals this month.

    Also OFUIL show is SO DIFFERENT from the book but I like the cast!

  2. Agghhhh One of Us is Lying is sooo good!!! (Have you read One of Us is Next?) I watched most of the series and you’re right, they loosely stuck to the plot haha. 🙃
    I’m currently reading Two Can Keep a Secret, it’s pretty good so far, though (I’m only on the like, 20th page though ahah 😂).

Omg I watched a few episodes of the oouil series w/ my friends at a sleepover, and I was shouting “they don’t __ like that” the whole time, because they’ve changed so much! the characters aren’t how I pictured them at all! 😂 also, I just bought two can keep a secret recently, and I’m so excited to read it! well done on your exams! and well done for keeping up with blogging at the same time! 😘💖

    also I watched OOUIL in march too — the book is way better obviously, but I still enjoyed it. 😌 (loved how they played brutal and good 4 u hehe~)

  11. Ahh, I’m going to ninth in April toooo and we always get our classes like a day before school starts for some reason?? So I have no clue if I’m going to be with my friends 🤡And I’m glad you enjoyed they both die at the end!! I actually ended up dnf’ing it because I was bored out of mind loll.😂

      thanks! ❤ i knoww, its kinda weird cuz it feels like time's going by so slowly but you never see it going by so fast (that makes no sense but oh well)
      i hope so.. math only seems to be getting more difficult 😦
